MiTAC Successfully Completes New Taipei City South LED Energy-Saving Streetlight Project with Impressive Results

MiTAC Information Technology Corp. (hereinafter referred to as "MiTAC") has recently completed the "New Taipei City South Area Energy-Saving Streetlight Replacement and Maintenance Project." This project was promoted using a performance-based contract model, aiming to enhance the quality of smart city lighting in New Taipei City and advance sustainable development goals for energy conservation and carbon reduction. By integrating smart streetlight technology, the project successfully combined innovative technology with urban development, providing a comprehensive and effective management and maintenance system for energy-saving and carbon-reducing smart lighting, thus laying a solid foundation for the realization of a smart city.

The project involved the replacement and maintenance of over 140,000 LED streetlights across 16 administrative districts in the southern area of New Taipei City (including Banqiao District). The streetlight replacement work was completed on October 9, 2024, introducing smart road lighting solutions and establishing smart streetlights in areas where reporting was inconvenient. Through regular monitoring of streetlight data, the project achieves real-time alerts on various indicators and statuses, improving maintenance efficiency and effectiveness in preemptive alerts. Statistics indicate that after the streetlight replacements, approximately 77.45 million kilowatt-hours of electricity will be saved, and about 45,800 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions will be reduced, equivalent to the annual CO2 absorption of 2,267 hectares of Taiwan's forests. Over ten years, the project is expected to save New Taipei City approximately NT$75.33 million in electricity expenses, providing citizens with a safer, more energy-efficient, and smarter lighting environment. These achievements highlight MiTAC's contributions as a leading systems integration pioneer in energy conservation, carbon reduction, and innovative smart city development.

In this project, MiTAC established a maintenance plan based on national standards and implemented a self-inspection procedure for the streetlights to ensure that inspections and repairs are completed within 24 hours of reporting. With a year-on-year decline in streetlight repair requests, the project's effectiveness is evident. Additionally, MiTAC provided applications such as "Underground Vehicle Tunnel Water Level Monitoring" and "Mountain Road Traffic Detection," aiding relevant agencies in responding to flooding and other emergencies during the flood season and typhoon periods, thereby enhancing public safety and convenience. The project also earned the 21st "Public Works Gold Quality Award" in 2021, further solidifying MiTAC's status as a key partner in smart city construction.

Sammy Ciou, Vice General Manager of MiTAC Information Technology Corp.'s Innovative Technology Business Group, stated that the company's LED smart streetlight solutions feature green energy innovations, with long lifespans, low light degradation, and reduced light pollution as competitive advantages.
