Located on a high-risk seismic belt, Taiwan’s bridges and buildings are closely linked to natural disasters such as earthquakes and typhoons. Traditional bridge inspections are not only labor- and cost-intensive but also often time-consuming and hazardous. Especially after a natural disaster, the immediate acquisition of structural safety information to facilitate rapid and accurate response measures is a major challenge for management agencies.
MiTAC "VR Disaster Experience Vehicle," leveraging the popular metaverse concept, employs sophisticated simulation technology to replicate disaster scenarios. This enhances the realism of disaster preparedness experiences by integrating an all-in-one, wearable VR headset and a specialized immersive VR platform. Beyond visual fidelity, it incorporates lifelike movements, scents, and a multifaceted sensory experience. The three immersive disaster preparedness games allow participants to don VR equipment, situate themselves within the dynamic VR platform, and virtually immerse in disaster scenarios. While seated, the dynamic simulation includes shaking vibrations and the release of misty water, providing participants with a convincing sense of being present in situations like earthquakes, mountain accidents, flash floods, and other disaster scenes. The immersive experience allows participants to feel the tension of being a victim and the adrenaline-fueled moments of playing the role of a daring rescuer.

This integration allows the smart pole to provide essential public services while serving as a platform for open data access, fostering the development of innovative applications.
MiTAC has assisted the New Taipei City Government in the replacement and maintenance of existing LED streetlights (approximately 130,000 units). In addition to providing applications such as intelligent light control, streetlight information management systems, and maintenance history query management, the solution also addresses flooding issues during the typhoon season. It offers functions for "Mountain Road Traffic Detection" and "Underground Passage Water Level Monitoring." Furthermore, the company has developed an engineering maintenance plan in accordance with national standards, aligning with the autonomous inspection procedures of streetlights. Prepared to conduct streetlight inspections and complete issue resolution within 24 hours of notification, this approach aims to enhance service quality and instill confidence in the public regarding the government's proactive governance. In recent years, the total number of streetlight repair cases has steadily decreased, showcasing the effectiveness of the project. Consequently, it has received recognition from the client and was nominated for the "Golden Quality Award" in public engineering.
