Smart Pole Planning and Installation in New Taipei City

MiTAC is actively participating in the promotion of smart city development, achieving significant progress in the application of 5G smart poles. This technological innovation not only enhances the functionality of urban infrastructure but also provides citizens and businesses with new convenient services, accelerating the advancement of smart cities.
The 5G smart pole is an integrated urban facility that combines various smart technologies, including pedestrian and vehicular monitoring, micro-climate data collection, Wi-Fi hotspots, and 5G microbase station services. This integration allows the smart pole to provide essential public services while serving as a platform for open data access, fostering the development of innovative applications.

In practical applications within New Taipei City, we have installed smart poles equipped with advanced monitoring devices capable of real-time data collection and analysis of pedestrian and vehicle flow. This data not only offers valuable insights into urban traffic conditions but also assists the municipal government and businesses in managing traffic volume, reducing congestion, and improving road safety and efficiency. Additionally, the smart poles are outfitted with micro-climate sensors that gather real-time weather information such as temperature, humidity, and wind speed. This data is crucial for residents' daily activities, urban management, and disaster prevention. For example, prior to typhoons or heavy rainfall, this information can provide critical alerts, helping the city government to implement emergency measures and minimize the impact of disasters on residents’ lives.

To meet the demand for high-speed internet connectivity, we have installed Wi-Fi hotspots and 5G microbase station services on the smart poles. This not only facilitates convenient wireless network access but also creates more opportunities for the digital economy's growth. In business districts and tourist attractions, these network facilities can support numerous users simultaneously, promoting local commercial activities and tourism. Furthermore, the smart poles are equipped with electronic displays capable of dynamically showcasing various information, such as city event promotions, traffic updates, and emergency notifications. These displays enhance the efficiency of information dissemination in the city and can swiftly convey necessary information during special occasions (e.g., holidays or emergencies), strengthening citizens' perception and trust in public services.

The successful implementation of 5G smart poles has not only increased the technological sophistication and management efficiency of the city but also advanced the smart city initiative, transforming urban development. This improvement enhances residents’ quality of life, boosts the city's image, and provides new growth opportunities for businesses and innovative organizations. Looking ahead, MiTAC will continue to deepen its involvement in smart city development, leveraging technological innovation and product upgrades to create more value and convenience for urban development and residents' lives.
