Establishment of the Drone Alliance

經濟部成立無人機聯盟 漢翔董座胡開宏擔任聯盟主席

On October 10, the Ministry of Economic Affairs announced the formation of the "Taiwan Excellence Drone Overseas Business Alliance," aimed at promoting the international development of the drone industry, enhancing industry autonomy, and improving international competitiveness. The government has set a target to achieve a monthly production capacity of 15,000 drones by 2028. During the meeting, Hu Kai-hong, Chairman of Hanxiang, was unanimously elected as the Alliance Chairman, leading the drone industry towards new horizons.

The alliance's co-chairs include MiTAC, Asia Aerospace, Thunder Tiger Technology, Chicony, Geosat Aerospace, and Compal, among others. Together, they will strive to position Taiwan as a drone supply chain center in the Asia-Pacific region. Hu emphasized that Hanxiang not only exports technology but also acts as a crucial bridge with international firms, facilitating bilateral exchanges and helping domestic companies enter the global supply chain.

Plans are underway for a joint government and industry delegation to visit Japan, the USA, and Lithuania in mid-October to seek international collaboration. There is strong enthusiasm from participating companies, marking a significant step in international engagement.

The government aims to elevate the drone industry, targeting an annual output value of NT$30 billion, a tenfold increase from current levels. This initiative provides substantial opportunities for domestic companies and opens new operational avenues for Hanxiang.

President Lai Ching-te expressed hope for cooperation between the industry and government to make Taiwan a central hub for a democratic drone supply chain in Asia. Economic Minister Guo Zhi-hui recently emphasized the need for international collaboration and the establishment of a national team to pursue drone business.
With the recent approval of the "Five Key Trusted Industry Promotion Plan" by the Executive Yuan, the military-industrial sector is seen as a critical focus area, continuing to promote indigenous defense capabilities and nurturing drone system integration abilities, aspiring for Taiwan to become the first Asia-Pacific center for a democratic drone supply chain.
