The inaugural VR Disaster Experience Vehicle in Taiwan officially hits the road, supporting the Hualien Fire Department in intelligent disaster prevention

Taiwan, located on the Pacific Ring of Fire, often faces threats from complex disasters such as typhoons, earthquakes, and heavy rains in Hualien County. To enhance the residents' disaster awareness and strengthen their response skills, safeguarding themselves and their families in the face of sudden natural disasters and various dangerous situations is one of the county government's most critical policy tasks. Given Hualien's vast expanse and unique north-south elongated terrain, disseminating disaster prevention knowledge to every settlement in rural areas is challenging. The Hualien Fire Department collaborates with Godot Technology, utilizing the latest AI technology, to create Taiwan's first VR Disaster Experience Vehicle. On November 24, 112, an inauguration ceremony was held at the Hualien Zhonghua Elementary School, marking a new frontier in intelligent disaster prevention for Hualien.

MiTAC Advance Technology's "VR Disaster Experience Vehicle" incorporates the popular concept of the metaverse, utilizing realistic technology to simulate disaster scenes for a more immersive disaster prevention experience. Equipped with an all-in-one VR headset and a special immersive VR platform, the vehicle provides not only visual realism but also realistic movements, smells, and multiple sensory experiences. Three immersive disaster experience games allow participants to wear VR devices and sit in a VR motion platform to virtually experience disaster scenes, such as earthquakes, mountain accidents, and flash floods. The dynamic simulations, including shaking vibrations and mist sprays, create a lifelike experience, immersing participants in the tense atmosphere of being trapped or the thrilling rescue scenes when playing the role of a rescuer.

The VR Disaster Experience Vehicle's cabin is manufactured at MiTAC Advance Technology 's production base in Longtan, which has extensive experience in modifying various special mobile vehicles, holding professional certifications for both domestic and international cabin construction. The vehicle's structure features an aluminum alloy frame for robustness and lightweight design. With clever interior space planning, the design achieves energy efficiency, environmental friendliness, and low noise. The driver's side is equipped with a small LED display for promotional activities during the experience, while the passenger side has an outdoor large LED display for disaster prevention video promotions. The VR Disaster Experience Vehicle is designed for all-round efficiency and mobility, effectively assisting in intelligent disaster prevention promotion.

Intelligent disaster prevention is a future trend, relying on local governments combining forces with the private sector to enhance disaster prevention, resistance, and rescue capabilities. MiTAC Advance Technology has rich experience in intelligent disaster prevention, using big data and AI technology to estimate safety indicators, predict the likelihood of disasters, provide post-disaster check-ups and regular health check reports, and report and prepare early to prevent financial losses and accidents. The company looks forward to expanding this initiative to more local governments to implement smart technology applications and safeguard Taiwan.
